Ok, I read the initial post and read all the followups; but the way I see it is.... Someone found out your user log in name and your user log in password; thus granting them access to that account's privelidges. Then they also found out the user log in name and password of another account, is this really possible to guess at 2 accounts the combinations used to get in? My question is how are the GMs responsible to replace the happenings that were done? It was not the GMs who did anything, it was the player's account that was hacked that has the responsibility here. I am no computer expert, but it just seems like a chore to sit at a terminal and try every combination of user log in names with a new password combination for a long time before it WORKS, and Voila!, they are in. Is this what happened? Or is there software out there now that one can use to try every combination of log in names and log in passwords and set it to run indefinitely until the right combination works? I doubt this, as what is the first combination User Name: a and Password: a; wrong; try next combination of User Name: a and Password: b, etc... This would take forever. I am just participating here as devil's advocate, but I can see that the hacker would need to try every combination of log in name and log in password to get in, or they had help from inside by knowing one of the combinations first such as the login name or the password. Just guessing, but I don't think players actually use their in-game character name as their user log on code as that would just make it easier for a hacker as then they only need the password. Not being a computer expert, I find it hard to believe someone would sit at a console and try this continually just to get into someone's account. No, I am not calling you a liar, it may have happened as you say. I just don't see how the GMs are involved for a fix to this when it is the end user who gave away their account information, was lax in sa***uarding their username and password, or as you say a hacker was smart enough to figure it all out. If it was an outside game event that caused this, I hope you find the person who did it. Definitely time to change log in information on all accounts you hold if you are prone to another attack in the future. If they can get into your game information, can they get into your real life systems? Agent Shield |

Thank you for the civil discussion. I have one more question. How do you know everything was taken outside and blown up? I didn't see how you would know this part unless the one who did it told you they did or someone saw it happen. Agent Shield |
